The Government provides funding for students who fit in the Pupil Premium categories of free school meals (including those who are no longer eligible for free school meals but have been eligible in the last 6 years), looked after students, those students adopted from care and children of service personnel. The purpose of this is to narrow the attainment gap between students where evidence shows that they underachieve in comparison to their peers.
It is for schools to decide how the Pupil Premium Funding is spent as they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for individual students.

Pupil Premium Strategy 2018-19
Lady Manners School strives to attain the highest standards and ensure inclusion and equal access for all learners.
Pupil Premium Funding is a means of addressing some of the issues associated with social disadvantage and, in particular, to help close any gap in attainment where this exists. The circumstances of students eligible for Pupil Premium vary significantly and students can face many different barriers to educational achievement. For some there may be financial barriers to learning which are overcome by the school providing resources and work aids. For others there may be self-esteem and self-belief issues which can affect their motivation and achievement.

To deliver specific support as and when necessary, to enable each student to reach his or her full potential.
Impact of the expenditure on eligible and other students
In 2017-18, 25 Year 11 students were eligible for Pupil Premium:
Based on data from school data analysis tool, ‘SISRA’ on 21 October 2018:
- The percentage of students eligible for Pupil Premium achieving a grade 4 or above in maths and English rose by 14% to 54% in 2018. The percentage of students eligible for Pupil Premium achieving a grade 4 or above in maths rose by 11.4% to 71.4%
- The attainment 8 figure rose by 5.8% to 52.8
- Both attainment figures above are above the national figures for students NOT eligible for Pupil Premium in 2017.
- The progress figures have also increased with progress 8 going up by 0.5 from 2017
- Seven of the 25 students had positive progress 8 scores
The attendance gap closed slightly by 0.3% with a figure of 93.2% compared to a whole school figure of 95.7%.
Attendance at Parents’ Evenings improved in five out of the seven year groups. The overall attendance for parents of students eligible for Pupil Premium has risen by 4% since 2016-17 and narrowed the gap to a 4% difference with the whole school figure (this gap has previously been 12% and 13% in the last 5 years).
